Farewell to The Joe

The home of the Detroit Red Wings will soon be a distant memory. As we say goodbye to Joe Louis Arena, I thought I’d share some of my favorite images that I’ve created there.

R.I.P. Soul Sister Sharon Jones

I took this photo of soul singer Sharon Jones on August 2, 2008. This is the first time I’m sharing it. Sharon died yesterday (November 18, 2016) at age 60 after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer. She had such a soulful, gut-wrenching voice and I was lucky to have seen her perform live four times. She was a corrections officer at Rikers Island Prison and an armed guard for Wells Fargo when she released her debut single at age 40, proving that it’s never too late to chase your dream.

We’ve lost too many musical legends this year. Rest Well, Sharon.

Nashville April 2016

Nashville is an incredible city! I’m sharing some of my images from my photography weekend in Music City here: http://buzzclickphotography.com/nashville/

Blood Moon Eclipse

It’s 9/27/15 and the full moon is at its closest orbit to Earth coinciding with a total lunar eclipse here in the Midwest. The skies cleared for what may be the best eclipse we will see in our lifetime. Your next chance to catch this lunar phenomenon will be in 2033.  Shot with a Canon 5D Mark III with a 200mm f/2.8 lens and a 1.2 extender. I think my settings were ISO 800, 5.6, 1.3 second exposure.
