When the Golden Gate was completed in 1937, she was the longest and tallest suspension bridge in the world. A masterly example of engineering and art deco beauty. Painted in an orange vermillion to help it stand out in the fog that often shrouds it, a team of 38 painters continuously give it a new coat from one end to the other.
